Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly

NOTE:
NOTE:Use a vise with vise jaw protectors for all work to be done in the vise.
  1. Disconnect the connector.
    • Push in the retaining tab.

  1. Pull the cables out of the connector.
    1. Pull the cable retainer out of the connector.
    1. Disconnect each cable and pull it out.

  1. Remove the selector lever knob.
    1. Remove the screw and pull off the selector lever knob.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Install a pull through wire for assembly.
    1. Carefully remove the O/D switch and wiring.

  1. Remove the cover.
    1. Remove the lamp.
    1. Lift off the shifter cover.

  1. Remove the park position switch and selector lever detent spring.

  1. Remove the solenoid switch and the upper part of the body.

  1. Remove the selector lever.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Removal direction of the pivot pin.
    • Drive out the pivot pin.
    • Pull out the selector lever.

  1. Remove the spring.
    1. Secure the spring.
    1. Drive out the retaining pin.
    • Pull out the plunger and spring.
    • Pull off the sleeve.

Assembly
  1. Assemble the selector lever.
    1. Put the spring in place.
    1. Insert the plunger.
    1. Slide on the sleeve and compress it.
    1. Pretension the spring using a screwdriver.
    • Pull the plunger back slightly.

  1. Install the sleeve.
    1. Position the sleeve.
    1. Drive in the retaining pin and align it centrally.

  1. Install the selector lever.
    1. Position the selector lever into the transaxle.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Bring the locating tooth into engagement.
    1. Drive in the pivot pin.

  1. Position the upper part of the body and the solenoid switch.
    1. Install the upper body bolts.
    1. Hook the plunger of the solenoid switch onto the lever.
    1. Install the solenoid switch bolts.

  1. Position the detent spring and adjust the selector lever.
    • Move the selector lever to position ”D".
    1. Install the detent spring loosely.
    1. Position feeler gauge.
    1. Tighten the detent spring.
    • Check the gap again after moving the selector lever several times.

  1. Install the park position switch.

  1. Install the cover.
    1. Insert the lamp.
    1. Position cover.

  1. Install the selector lever knob.
    1. Using cable installed during disassembly, guide the cable in and insert the O/D switch.
    • Push the selector lever knob on the selector lever.
      CAUTION:
      CAUTION:Do not damage the O/D cable when pushing it on.
    • Carefully route the cable.
    1. Install the screw.

  1. Connect the electrical connector.
    1. Violet / White
    1. Black / White
    1. Yellow / Orange
    1. Yellow / Orange
    1. Orange / Black
    1. Black
    1. Black / Green
    1. Black / Green
    • Insert the cable retainer.
    • Install the connector.
