Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Remove the transmission.

2. Remove the bolts, spacers and flexplate.

3. Remove the flywheel adapter housing retaining rings.
4. Remove the flywheel front adapter.

NOTE: Use extreme care when removing the flywheel front adapter to prevent damage to the alignment dowel pins.

5. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal retaining bolts and the crankshaft rear oil seal.

6. Remove the rear cover retaining bolts and rear cover.

NOTE: Be careful not to bend or twist the engine rear cover during removal.
