Material (Part 2)

Removal

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while
cleaning gasket surfaces that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Recover the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Heating and Air Conditioning.
3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
4. Remove the accessory drive belt, tensioner and the power steering belt. For additional information, refer to Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and

Accessories.

5. Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft bolt and washer.

Discard the bolt.

6. Using the special tool, remove the crankshaft pulley.

7. Using the special tool, remove and discard the crankshaft front seal.
