Turbocharger (Intercooled Variants) - Remove And Install (23 612 0)

Removal and Installation

Remove

1. Remove the charge air cooler (refer to Operation Number 23 620 0).

2. Remove the turbocharger boost pipe.

1. Loosen the lower clip.

2. Slide the clip up and remove the turbocharger boost pipe.

3. Detach the crankcase ventilation pipe from the turbocharger (one clip).

4. Disconnect the air intake pipe (two clips).

5. Disconnect the fuel injection pump vacuum pipe from the turbocharger.

6. Detach the speedometer cable from the retaining bracket.

7. Disconnect the oil feed pipe from the turbocharger.

NOTE:

Before disconnecting the oil return pipe, place a drain tray under the pipe to collect any oil drips.

8. Disconnect the oil return pipe from the turbocharger.

9. Disconnect the turbocharger from the exhaust downpipe (three nuts).

10. Disconnect the turbocharger from the supporting bracket (two bolts).

11. Remove the turbocharger from the exhaust manifold (three nuts).

12. Remove the turbocharger compressor pipe (two bolts).

13. Remove the oil return pipe (two bolts).

Install

14. Fit new seals to the air intake pipe and the oil return pipe. Fit a new gasket to the exhaust manifold.

15. Refit the remaining components in the reverse order.
