Description and Operation The fuel charging system consists of a fuel pressure regulator, four fuel injectors, a CO% potentiometer and a fuel shut‐off switch. Fuel Pressure Regulator The fuel pressure regulator is fitted directly onto the fuel rail and is retained by two bolts. Sealing is achieved by an O‐ring seal. The fuel pressure regulator is designed to maintain the fuel pressure within the fuel rail to 2.5 bar with any excess fuel being returned to the fuel tank. Fuel Injectors The fuel injectors are of the top feed type and are mounted into a die cast aluminium fuel rail. Each injector is sealed by two O‐ring seals. The fuel injector is activated by the powertrain control module which modifies fuelling by adjusting the fuel injector pulse width according to engine operating conditions. |
