Check

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.

1. Remove the cam cover.
1. Disconnect the two engine vent pipes.
2. Remove the cam cover (three bolts).

2. Turn the engine clockwise until the slot in the camshaft is aligned with the upper edge of the cylinder head and insert the camshaft alignment tool.
1. Remove the camshaft alignment tool.

3. Refit the cam cover.
4. Refit the engine vent pipes.
5. Raise the vehicle.

6. Disconnect the wiring from the alternator.

7. Detach the alternator and secure to one side (three bolts).
8. Remove the TDC timing peg blanking plug from the cylinder block.

9. Insert the TDC timing peg into the cylinder block.

CAUTION:

When turning the engine to lock the crankshaft against the TDC timing peg, do so slowly to avoid bending the TDC timing peg.

10. Turn the engine clockwise until the crankshaft locks against the TDC timing peg.

11. Insert the special tool to the crankshaft pulley/vibration damper and set the pointer to 10 degrees ATDC
12. Remove the TDC timing peg.
13. Refit the TDC timing peg blanking plug.

14. Turn the engine clockwise until the pointers are aligned.

15. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor multiplug.

16. Remove the crankshaft position sensor (one bolt).

17. Check the crankshaft position sensor alignment.
   Fit the locating tool through the crankshaft position sensor boss into the flywheel.
Adjust

18. Adjust the crankshaft position sensor alignment.
1. Loosen the crankshaft position sensor boss retaining bolts.
2. Fit the special tool securely into the flywheel.
3. Tighten the crankshaft position sensor boss retaining bolts.
4. Remove the special tool.

19. Refit the crankshaft position sensor (one bolt).
20. Refit the remaining components in the reverse order.
