NOTE: Repeat this step until you have a consistent reading.
Determine the total amount of differential bearing shims, less the preload, which is calculated later in this procedure.

Position the Dial Indicator with Bracketry and the Clutch Housing Alignment Adapter,

Locate the tip of the adapter on a flat surface of one of the ring gear bolt spot faces.

Force the ring gear as far as possible toward the indicator.

With the pressure still applied, zero the Dial Indicator.

Force the ring gear as far as it will go in the opposite direction, and record the total case end play reading.
4. Remove the differential case with the master differential bearings.

Leave the master differential bearings on the differential case.
5. Install the inner oil slinger and the inner and outer pinion bearing cups.

Position the oil slinger and the bearing cups in the axle housing.

Place the appropriate Pinion Bearing Cup Replacer on the inner and outer bearing cups.

Install the Rear Axle Draw Bar through the Pinion Bearing Cup Replacer and tighten to seat the cups.

Check if a 0.381 mm (0.0015 inch) feeler gauge can be inserted between the bearing cup and the bearing bore at any point around each
cup. Reseat the bearing cups, if necessary.
