20. Install the differential bearing, using the appropriate Step Plate, and the Differential Bearing Cone Replacer, for Dana model 50 axles, or the
Carrier Bearing Replacer, for Dana model 60 axles.

Place the Step Plate under the bearing to protect it during the bearing installation.

Install the bearing.
21. Position the differential bearing cups on the bearings.
22. CAUTION: Do not spread the housing more than specified.
CAUTION: Use care to avoid damaging the ring gear and pinion.
Spread the axle housing, using the Differential Carrier Spreader and the Dial Indicator/Magnetic Base, and position the differential.

Seat the differential into the axle housing, using a soft face hammer.

Remove the Differential Carrier Spreader after positioning the differential.
