CAUTION: Be sure to match the positioning of the mating letters on the bearing caps and the axle housing.
Install the bearing caps.

Rotate the differential case to make sure the bearings are properly seated.

Position the Dial Indicator with Bracketry.

Rotate the differential case.

Record the reading.

If the runout does not exceed the specification, replace the ring gear and pinion.

If the runout exceeds the specification, the ring gear is true and the excessive runout is due to differential case/differential bearing/axle
housing damage.
6. CAUTION: If the case is damaged, replace the differential bearings with case.
Replace the case/bearings as necessary, and recheck the case runout.

If the runout is excessive with a new case/bearings, replace the axle housing.
