DISASSEMBLE
Refer to Fig. 2 when performing the following procedure:
1.
Secure steering gear on a soft jawed vise.
2.
Remove fluid lines.
3.
Place alignment marks on lefthand tie rod to ease installation.
4.
Loosen jam nut and remove left tie rod end.
5.
Remove boot clamps then the boot.
6.
Using lockpin tool No. T78P-3504-N or equivalent, remove tie rod lockpins.
7.
Remove tie rods from rack assembly.
8.
Using locknut tool No. T90C-3504-BH or equivalent, remove yoke plug locknut.
9.
Remove yoke plug, spring and support yoke.
10.
Remove pinion and control valve assembly retaining snap ring.

Remove seal using locknut pin remover tool No. T78P-3504-N or equivalent, Fig. 3.
12.
Remove valve housing attaching bolts, then valve housing, pinion and control valve assembly.
13.
If present, remove shim(s) from steering gear housing, Fig. 4.
14.
Remove steering gear O-ring.
15.
Remove pinion and control valve assembly from valve housing by lightly tapping with a rubber mallet.
