Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Brake piston retracting tool

Removal

  1. Slacken the front wheel nuts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
  1. Remove the wheel.

  1. Remove the caliper retaining clip.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:When detached suspend the caliper to prevent damage to the flexible brake hose.
    Detach the caliper.
    1. Remove the bolt covers.
    1. Remove the retaining bolts.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The inner brake pad may be left on the anchor bracket when the caliper is detached.
    Remove the brake pads.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:When the pistons are pushed back into the, brake fluid will be displaced to the brake master cylinder reservoir.
    When installing new brake pads make sure the pistons are in the fully retracted position by using Special Tool 12-014.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:Make sure the disc faces are clean and free from grease, dirt or rust prior to assembly.

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
