Remove the handbrake gaiter. | | | -
Slacken the handbrake cable (one nut). | | | -
Slacken the wheel nuts, raise the vehicle and remove the rear road wheels. | | | -
Detach the exhaust system from the rear rubber insulators. | | | -
Remove the rear section of the exhaust system heat shield (three nuts). | | | -
Remove the centre section of the exhaust system heat shield (six nuts). | | | -
Disconnect the handbrake equaliser yoke. - Disconnect the primary cable.
- Remove the rear cable retaining clips.
- Detach the rear cables from the retaining bracket.
- Detach the equalizer yoke from the rear cables.

Detach the right-hand handbrake cable (two clips and two bolts). | | | -
Detach the left-hand handbrake cable (one clip and two bolts). | | | -
Remove the brake shoes (refer to Operation Number 12 285 0). | | | -
Remove the handbrake cable from the back plate (both sides). - Depress the retaining clip.
- Pull out the cable.
| Installation | | -
Refit the components in reverse order. | | | -
Adjust the handbrake (refer to procedure contained in this section). | | |
