Removal and Installation Removal WARNING:Apply the foot brake at least 20 times to de-pressurise the system. CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water. All Vehicles | -
Disconnect the battery ground cable. | | -
NOTE:When removed, ensure the filler cap does not become contaminated. Remove the reservoir filler cap. - Disconnect the low brake fluid warning switch multiplug.
- Remove the filler cap.

Drain the brake fluid reservoir. - Connect a bleed tube from the front left-hand bleed nipple to a suitable container.
- Slacken the bleed nipple.
- Depress the brake pedal until the reservoir is empty.
- Tighten the bleed nipple.

Disconnect the clutch feed pipe. | Vehicles with ABS only | -
Remove the hydraulic unit to master cylinder brake pipes. | Vehicles without ABS only | -
Disconnect the master cylinder brake pipes. - Disconnect the brake pipes.
- Disconnect the pressure conscious reducing valves.

CAUTION:Before removing the master cylinder ensure that the servo vacuum is exhausted. This may be done either by removing the vacuum pipe from the servo or by operating the brake pedal several times with the engine turned off. Remove the master cylinder (two nuts). | Installation All Vehicles | -
CAUTION:Before refitting the master cylinder ensure that the vacuum seal is in place and that the mating faces are clean. Refit the components in reverse order. | Vehicles with ABS only Vehicles without ABS only | -
