Starting System - Starter Motor—1.3L Endura-E (HCS) Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.

  1. Remove the starter motor upper retaining bolts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:When detaching the starter motor, make sure that excessive strain is not placed on the wiring harness.
    Remove the starter motor lower retaining bolt.

  1. Remove the starter motor.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors

Installation
  1. Install the starter motor.
    • Connect the electrical connectors

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tighten the starter motor lower retaining bolt at this stage
    Install the starter motor lower retaining bolt.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the wiring harness bracket and ground cable are correctly positioned.
    Install the starter motor upper retaining bolts.

  1. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe.
  1. Raise the vehicle.

  1. Tighten the starter motor lower retaining bolt.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
