Air Conditioning - Low-Pressure Cutoff Switch Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:"Safety Regulations". For additional information, refer to Section  100-00 General Information.
    Standard preparatory measures
    • Make a note of the radio keycode.
    • Make a note of the preset radio stations.
    • Place protective covers over the fenders.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Disconnect the battery negative lead.
    Detach the coolant expansion tank.
    • Remove the single screw.
    • Unhook the coolant expansion tank from its bracket.

  1. Remove the bulkhead extension.
    • Remove the rubber seal.
    • Unclip the central junction box (CJB) cover.
    • Remove the single screw.

  1. Remove the bulkhead extension (continued).
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Unclip the electrical connector.

  1. Remove the bulkhead extension (continued).
    • Remove the single screw.

  1. Remove the air conditioning low-pressure switch.
    • Disconnect the plug.

  1. By-pass the plug contacts for the air conditioning low pressure switch.
    • Start the engine.
    • Switch on the air conditioning.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Run the engine at idle for 30 seconds with the air conditioning switched on before removing the air conditioning low pressure switch.
    Remove the air conditioning low pressure switch.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Tightening torques. For additional information, refer to Section  412-03A Air Conditioning / 412-03B Auxiliary Climate Control. Specifications
    Refit the components in reverse order.
    • Switch off the air conditioning.
    • Switch off the engine.
    • Remove the by-pass from the plug of the air conditioning low pressure switch.
    • Connect the plug of the air conditioning low pressure switch.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery negative lead.
    • Remove the protective covers.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogramme the preset radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
    • Road test the vehicle to collect data for the PCM.
  1. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
