Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Release the parking brake.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: (100-02 Jacking and Lifting)

    Lifting (Description and Operation).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take care when removing the exhaust hanger insulators to prevent damage.
    Detach the exhaust rear muffler from the exhaust hanger insulators.

  1. Detach the center section of the exhaust system heat shield from the floor panel.

  1. Disconnect the parking brake cable on both sides.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable from the beam axle on both sides.

  1. Detach the parking brake cables from the parking brake cable equalizer.
    1. Detach the parking brake cables from the parking brake cable support bracket.
    1. Detach the parking brake cables from the parking brake cable equalizer.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable from the beam axle bracket on both sides.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable from the floor panel crossmember on both sides.
  1. Remove the parking brake cable.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take care when installing the exhaust hanger insulators to prevent damage.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Check the exhaust hanger insulators for damage. Install new exhaust hanger insulators if required.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Adjust the parking brake.
