Interior - Power 2nd Row Seats Won't Fold Forward/Flat

POWER FOLD SECOND ROW SEATS NOT LIFTING
AND FOLDING FORWARD - BUILT ON OR BEFORE
9/8/2009

ISSUE
Some 2009-2010 Flex vehicles built on or before 9/8/2009 and equipped with power folding second row seats may find the seat not fully lifting and
folding forward (tumble) after the power release switch is depressed.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Make sure there are no aftermarket accessories added to the second row power folding seats. These accessories can affect the power fold operation of the
second row seat. Check for any foreign objects that may cause the seat not to fold properly. Reference Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 501-10 when
performing the service steps below.

With the seat track slide all the way forward:

1. Does the seat back fold forward when the power release switch is pressed?

a. Yes - Proceed to Step 2.

b. No - Inspect recliners for damage or pinched/broken cables.

2. Does the seat cushion unlatch from floor (after seat back folds forward) when power release switch is pressed?

a. Yes - Proceed to Step 3.

b. No - Inspect the seat track/riser for damage or pinched cables/latch.

3. With the seat cushion unlatched from the floor, does the seat fully tumble forward without manual assistance?

a. Yes - Proceed to step 4.

b. No - Loosen the seat mounting bolts and re-torque. Retest. If problem persists, replace the seat track/riser assembly.

4. With the seat track slide full rearward, retest power fold operation. Does the seat fully tumble unassisted?

a. Yes - Cycle power fold operation at least five (5) times. If the seat tumbles properly, power fold function is working normal and return the

vehicle to customer.

b. No - Replace gas strut and retest. If problem persists, replace the seat track/riser assembly.
