Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Installer, Water Seal Carrier

204-343 (14-064)

Installer, Differential Bearing

205-062 (15-025A)

Installer, ABS Sensor Ring

206-083 (12-024)

Installer, Input Shaft Seal

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the wheel hub.
    For additional information, refer to: Wheel Hub (204-02 Rear Suspension, Removal and Installation).
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes

  1. Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor ring.
All vehicles
  1. Remove the water seal carrier (if equipped).

  1. Remove the circlip.

  1. Using the special tool, remove and discard the wheel bearing.
Vehicles built up to 07/2001

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The following step is only required for vehicles that did not have a water seal previously installed.
    Remove and discard the wheel spindle.

Installation

All vehicles

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new wheel bearing.
    Using the special tool, install the wheel bearing.

  1. Install the circlip.

  1. Using the special tool, install the water seal carrier.
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Avoid any impact on the wheel speed sensor ring.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the wheel speed sensor ring is clean.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Avoid any contact between the wheel speed sensor ring and a magnetic surface.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new wheel speed sensor ring.
    Using the special tool, install the wheel speed sensor ring.
Vehicles built up to 07/2001

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The following step is only required for vehicles that did not have a water seal previously installed.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new wheel spindle.
    Install the wheel spindle.
All vehicles
  1. Install the wheel hub.
    For additional information, refer to: Wheel Hub (204-02 Rear Suspension, Removal and Installation).
