Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover/Installer, Pivot Bushing

205 - 297 (15 - 086)

Installer, Wheel Hub

204 - 148 (14 - 037)

Removal

  1. Remove the steering gear.
    For additional information, refer to Gear - Power Steering in this section.

  1. Using the special tools, remove the insulator bushings.
  1. Thoroughly clean and visually inspect the bushing housing for signs of damage. If the housing is damaged, install a new steering gear.

Installation

All Vehicles
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Lubricate the new bushing with a suitable rubber lubricant.
    Using the special tool, install new insulator bushings.
Left-hand drive vehicles
  1. Using the special tools, make sure the insulator bushings are installed to the correct depth.
Right-hand drive vehicles
  1. Using the special tools, make sure the insulator bushings are installed to the correct depth.
All Vehicles
  1. Install the steering gear.
