Engine Cooling - Water Pump Housing—1.6L Zetec-E (Zetec)/1.8L Zetec-E (Zetec)/2.0L Zetec-E (Zetec) Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
  1. Remove the timing belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-01A Engine / 303-01B Engine / 303-01C Engine / 303-01G Engine.

  1. Remove the timing belt idler pulley.

  1. Disconnect the water pump hose.

  1. Remove the water pump housing lower retaining bolt (shown from below for clarity).

  1. Remove the water pump housing upper retaining bolt.

  1. Remove the water pump housing.

  1. Remove the water pump from the water pump housing.
    • Discard the sealing ring

  1. Remove and discard the sealing ring.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new water pump sealing ring.
NOTE:
NOTE:Install a new water pump housing sealing ring.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Fill the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
