Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the gearshift mechanism.
    For additional information, refer to Gearshift Mechanism, Remove and Install in this section.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Separate the front exhaust pipe and unhook it from the rubber insulators.

  1. Detach the heat shield and push it backwards.
    • Unclip the shift and selector cables from the floor pan.

  1. Open shift and selector cable cover.

  1. Detach the gearshift and selector cables.
    • Detach the shift and selector cables by twisting the abutment collar clockwise.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the heater air passage.

  1. Cut the carpet and damping matting and fold them to one side (shown with the heat exchanger removed).

  1. Detach the duct for the gearshift cables from the floor assembly and pull the cables through to the interior (shown with the heat exchanger removed).

Installation
  1. Refit the components in reverse order (shown with the heat exchanger removed).

  1. Adjust the gearshift cables. For additional information, refer to Section  308-00 Manual Transmission/Transaxle and Clutch - General Information.
