Acceleration Control - Accelerator Cable—1.6L Zetec-SE (Sigma)/1.4L Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal
  1. Detach the air cleaner outlet pipe.

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the bracket.
    1. Rotate the outer cable.
    1. Remove the retaining clip.
    1. Disconnect the inner cable from the throttle body.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable from the clip.

  1. Remove the footwell trim panel.

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the pedal.

  1. Attach a draw cord to the accelerator cable to assist with installation.
  1. Remove the accelerator cable.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The rubber grommet must be installed into the bulkhead before the accelerator cable is installed into the grommet.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
