Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Jacking (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation) /
    Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Over bending of the exhaust flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure.
    Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a suitable support wrap or suitable splint.

  1. Remove the floor panel brace.

  1. Detach the exhaust flexible pipe from the catalytic converter.
    • Discard the gasket and nuts.

  1. Detach the exhaust flexible pipe from the crossmember exhaust hanger insulators.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Using suitable cable ties, support the rear muffler and exhaust tailpipe assembly to prevent damage to the exhaust hanger insulators.
    Remove the exhaust flexible pipe.
    • Discard the gasket and nuts.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the catalytic converter studs with grease.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Coat the exhaust flexible pipe to rear muffler flange studs with grease.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new exhaust flexible pipe gaskets and nuts.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the exhaust flexible pipe retaining nuts at this stage.
    Install the exhaust flexible pipe.

  1. Attach the exhaust flexible pipe to the crossmember exhaust hanger insulators.

  1. Tighten the exhaust flexible pipe to catalytic converter retaining nuts.

  1. Tighten the exhaust flexible pipe to rear muffler flange retaining nuts.

  1. Install the floor panel brace.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Over bending of the exhaust flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure.
    Remove the exhaust flexible pipe support wrap or splint.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
