Removal and Installation

Removal

WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:The fuel system remains pressurized for a long time after the ignition is switched off. The fuel pressure must be relieved before attempting any repairs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
  1. Depressurize the fuel system. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00A Fuel System - General Information.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the throttle body.
    For additional information, refer to Throttle Body in this section.

  1. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

  1. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.
    • Discard the retaining clip.

  1. Disconnect the fuel return line from the fuel pressure regulator. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00A Fuel System - General Information.

  1. Disconnect the fuel supply line from the fuel injection supply manifold. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00A Fuel System - General Information.

  1. Remove the fuel pressure regulator.
    • Discard the fuel pressure regulator O-ring seal.

  1. Remove the fuel injection supply manifold and fuel injection supply manifold heat shield.

  1. Remove the fuel injectors from the supply manifold.
    1. Slide the clip to release the injector.
    1. Remove the injector.

  1. Discard the fuel injector O-ring seals.

Installation

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Do not use silicone grease to lubricate O-ring seals as it will block the fuel injectors.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new injector O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new fuel pressure regulator O-ring seals.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose retaining clip.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Lubricate the fuel injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil to aid installation.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
