Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Disconnect the starter motor solenoid electrical connector.

  1. Remove the charge air cooler outlet pipe.

  1. Detach the intercooler and position it to side.

  1. Disconnect the ground cable from the body.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the gearbox.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Disconnect the starter motor electrical connectors.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Disconnect the generator electrical connector (engine shown removed for clarity).
  1. Remove the battery cable.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the inside of the charge air cooler outlet pipe end is clean and free from any oil residue as this will reduce the installation grip of the pipe to the throttle body intake housing and charge air cooler. Failure to follow this instructions may result in damage to the engine.
    To install, reverse removal procedure.
