Interior Lighting - Interior Lighting Focus RS 2003 (09/2002-)
Description and Operation

The interior lighting system consists of the following components:

  • A front interior lamp.
  • A rear interior lamp.
  • A load space lamp.

The interior lighting system can be operated by using a three position switch located within the front interior lamp which gives the following options:

  • interior lamps on with door(s) close.
  • interior lamps off.
  • interior lamps on with door(s) open.
  • interior lamps on with delay after door(s) close

If the interior lamps are set to delay, as soon as the ignition key is turned to start the engine the lights will go out.

The 12 second delay function is controlled by the central timer module (CTM) on vehicles built up to 08/2001 or by the generic electronic module (GEM) on vehicles built 08/2001 onwards.

When the CTM or GEM receives an input from a switch mounted in the door striker plate or from the remote transmitter, it activates the interior lamp function, which switches the interior lamp relay to switch the interior lamps on. The CTM or GEM will allow a 12 second period to pass before extinguishing the lamps. This timer function is reset if any of the inputs are reactivated during this period.
