Special Tool(s)

Remover/Installer, Hose Clamp

303-397 (24-003)

Removal

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
    Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Remove the bulkhead cover.

  1. Remove the engine cover.

  1. Remove the engine noise reduction material.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the air cleaner outlet pipe from the turbocharger intake pipe.

  1. Detach the turbocharger intake pipe from the intake manifold and disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.

  1. Using the special tool, remove the air intake hose.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the intake pipe plate vacuum servo.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve.

  1. Disconnect the oil supply line from the turbocharger and detach the supply line bracket from the intake manifold (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. Remove the EGR tube (engine shown removed for clarity).
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Remove the intake manifold (engine shown removed for clarity).
    • Discard the gaskets.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new intake manifold gaskets.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The coating of the intake manifold gasket faces to the intake manifold.
    Install the intake manifold.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) tube gaskets.
    Install the EGR tube.

  1. Connect the turbocharger oil supply line to the turbocharger and attach the supply line bracket to the intake manifold (engine shown removed for clarity).

  1. Attach the turbocharger intake pipe to the intake manifold and connect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose.

  1. Using the special tool, connect the air cleaner outlet pipe to the turbocharger intake pipe.

  1. Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.

  1. Connect the vacuum hose to the intake pipe plate vacuum servo.

  1. Using the special tool, install the air intake hose.

  1. Install the engine noise reduction material.

  1. Install the engine cover.

  1. Install the bulkhead cover.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
