Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.
  1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.

  1. Remove the engine cover.

  1. Remove the engine right-hand mounting retaining bolts.

  1. Slide the engine forwards.

  1. Disconnect the charge air cooler outlet pipe from the EGR valve.

  1. Remove the EGR cooler to EGR valve tube bolts from the EGR valve.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Remove the EGR cooler to EGR valve tube.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Disconnect the coolant hose from the EGR cooler.
    • Allow the coolant to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Remove the EGR cooler to exhaust manifold tube bolts from the EGR cooler (vehicle shown raised for clarity).
    • Discard the gasket.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the EGR cooler to exhaust manifold tube.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Disconnect the coolant hose from the EGR cooler.
    • Allow the coolant to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Remove the EGR cooler.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new EGR cooler to exhaust manifold tube gaskets and EGR cooler to EGR valve tube gaskets.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
