Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS)

How to use the symptom chart

The symptom chart for the 4-speed automatic transmission is based on a code system. The advantage of the system lies in the use of a fault code and a chart which lists every possible fault code and concern. If the transmission is renewed the fault code must be given in the report.

  1. Make sure that the preliminary inspections (diagnosis with WDS, fluid level check
REFER to: Fluid Level Check (307-01A Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: AG4, In-vehicle Repair).
    , fluid condition check
REFER to: Preliminary Inspection (307-01B Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: AG5, Diagnosis and Testing).
    and gearshift adjustment) are made.
  1. Identify the customers concern.
  1. Compare the concern with the details given in the symptom chart and identify the fault code.
  1. Using the symptom chart, find the concern in the symptom column and proceed with the appropriate routines.
