Diagnosis and Testing Refer to Wiring Diagrams Section 419-01A, for schematic and connector information. Principles of Operation Anti-Theft Alarm Operation The anti-theft alarm system is incorporated into and controlled by the central junction box (CJB). The CJB can be diagnosed by WDS to identify and correct any concerns found with the anti-theft alarm system. The anti-theft alarm provides an audible and visual alarm for the following conditions: - Unauthorized access to the vehicle is detected.
- Ignition switch is turned to position II or position III while the anti-theft alarm system is armed.
The visual anti-theft alarm indictor uses the vehicle turn signal indicators. The CJB will initiate the power supply to the turn signal indicators when unauthorized access to the vehicle is detected. The audible anti-theft alarm consists of an alarm horn (located near the windshield wiper linkage) which is separate from the vehicle horn. The CJB will initiate the power supply to the alarm horn relay when the alarm system is triggered. When the anti-theft alarm system is armed, any unauthorized entry into the vehicle without using a key or keyless entry remote transmitter is detected by a switch being triggered in the door latch(es), liftgate latch, luggage compartment latch, hood latch or interior scanning sensors detect movement. The turn signal indicators and alarm horn are automatically switched off by the CJB. Inspection and Verification - Verify the customer concern.
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

| - If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
- If the cause is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to WDS to diagnose the system.
