Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer toSection 412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer toSection 100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the RH splash shield.

  1. If equipped, disconnect the engine block heater electrical connector.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt or moisture.
    If equipped with the 3.0L (4V) engine, remove the A/C manifold and tube assembly bolt and disconnect the A/C manifold and tube.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Vehicles with the 2.0L Zetec engine shown, vehicles with the 3.0L (4V) engine similar.
    Remove the A/C compressor pressure relief valve.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Lubricate the O-ring seals with PAG Compressor Oil YN-12-C or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
