Air Conditioning - Manifold and Tube Assembly—LHD Maverick 2001 (12/2000-07/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the nuts from the A/C manifold and tube mounting bracket.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt or moisture.
    Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the suction accumulator. For additional information, refer to spring lock coupling general procedure inSection 412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Remove the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer toSection 501-19 Bumpers.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt or moisture.
    Remove the nut and disconnect the A/C manifold and tube to A/C condenser core air conditioning line (peanut) fitting.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer toSection 100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the RH splash shield.

  1. If equipped, disconnect the engine block heater electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the A/C clutch field coil electrical connector.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Plug all ports to prevent contamination from dirt or moisture.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Vehicles with 2.0L Zetec engine shown, vehicles with 3.0L (4V) engine similar.
    Remove the A/C manifold and tube assembly bolt.
  1. Remove the A/C manifold and tube assembly through the bottom of the vehicle.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Lubricate the O-ring seals with PAG Compressor Oil YN-12-C or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
    • Apply Pipe Sealant with Teflon® D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to the threads of the A/C manifold retaining bolt.
