Removal and Installation

Selector lever assembly

Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Section 100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
  1. Remove the upper shift lever bezel.
  1. Remove the upper center console assembly.

  1. Remove the shift cable from the gearshift assembly.
    1. Disconnect the shift cable end from the gearshift lever.
    1. Remove the shift cable from the bracket.

  1. Remove the set screw.

  1. Disconnect the overdrive switch electrical connector.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the plastic straw inside of the lever does not come out.
    Remove the knob assembly with the shroud by pulling upward.

  1. Remove the bulb from the bezel by turning it clockwise.

  1. Carefully pry up the 4 bezel clips, remove the bezel.

  1. Remove the gearshift bezel.

  1. Cut the manual override tie strap.

Installation
  1. Install the bezel. Make sure that all 4 clips completely engage.

  1. Install a tie strap to secure the manual override.

  1. Install the bulb in the bezel by turning it counterclockwise.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that there is grease on the top of the plastic pawl inside of the metallic lever.
    Install the knob assembly. Guide the overdrive wires through the plastic slider, and through the main slot.

  1. Connect the overdrive switch electrical connector.

  1. Install the set screw.
  1. Install the upper center console assembly.
  1. Install the upper shift lever bezel.
