Remove the reverse idler rear gear and reverse coupling sleeve. | | -
Remove the 3 insert springs. | | -
Remove the reverse idler gear needle bearing. | | -
Remove the reverse idler gear thrust bearing. | | -
Remove the reverse idler gear synchronizer ring. | | -
Remove the reverse idler front gear. | | -
Remove the reverse idler gear needle bearing. | | -
Remove the reverse idler gear thrust bearing. | | -
Remove and discard the roll pin. | | -
Inspect all the reverse idler shaft parts for damage, peeling, dents, uneven wear, bending, etc. Install new parts as necessary. | | -
Inspect the synchronizer rings for damage. Install new parts as necessary. | | -
NOTE: Limit value: 0.7 mm (0.028 in). Press the synchronizer ring against the cone and measure the clearance between the synchronizer ring and the flank surface of the gear. Install a new synchronizer ring if the measurement is not within specification. | | -
CAUTION:Be careful with the orientation of the insert springs. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure. - Install the insert springs in the correct orientation toward the engine.
