Removal and Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to

  1. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to

  1. Position the speed control actuator assembly aside.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Detach the wire harness.
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and position the speed control actuator aside.
      • 1. To install, tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).

  1. Remove the 2 compressor manifold and tube assembly bracket nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  1. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube spring lock coupling at the suction accumulator.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
  1. Remove the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer to

  1. Remove the condenser core inlet fitting nut and disconnect the condenser core inlet fitting.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.
      • 1. To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

  1. If equipped, disconnect the engine block heater.
  1. Disconnect the A/C compressor electrical connector.
  1. Remove the compressor manifold bolt.
    • To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  1. Remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Install new O-ring seals.
    • Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to

  1. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to
