Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Release the parking brake and raise the vehicle.
  1. Detach the parking brake cable. Refer to the procedure in this section.
  1. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to Section  501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation.

  1. Remove the parking brake assembly.

  1. Pull the parking brake cable through the opening in the floor.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:New parking brake control assemblies are supplied with the self-adjust mechanism pre-set.
  1. Lift the parking brake control to its highest position.

  1. Extract 40 mm of parking brake cable.
    1. Press down the pawl.
    1. Simultaneously pull the parking brake control to extract 40 mm of cable.

  1. Release the tension on the parking brake cable.
    1. Press down the pawl.
    1. Simultaneously release the tension on the cable.
    • The cable self-adjust mechanism will hold the cable until load is applied to the cable.

  1. Install the components in reverse order.
