Removal and Installation Special Tool(s) | Expander, Teflon Seal 211-188 (13-015) | | Support Bar, Engine 303-290 (21-140) | | Adaptor for 303-290 (21-140) 303-290-02 (21-140-02) | | Adaptor for 303-290 (21-140) 303-290-03 (21-140-03) | Removal CAUTION:Disconnect the battery ground cable. | -
Disconnect the pipe union and the hose from the power steering pump. - Remove the pipe clamp bracket retaining bolt.
- Disconnect the power steering pipe union.
- Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
- Disconnect the power steering hose.

Using the special tools, support the engine. | | -
Remove the engine mount bracket. - Unclip the ignition lead clamp.
- Remove the retaining nuts.

Detach the coolant expansion tank. - Remove the retaining bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Position the tank to one side.

Remove the power steering pump pulley. - Hold the center of the pulley with an Allen key.
- Remove the pulley retaining bolts.

Remove the power steering pump. - Remove the pump pipe bracket retaining bolt.
- Remove the retaining plate nuts.
- Remove the retaining plate bolts.
- Remove the pump retaining bolts.
- Remove the retaining plate.
- Remove the pump.

Disconnect the power steering pipe. | Installation | -
NOTE:If installing a new steering gear assembly the unions that are supplied fitted to the new steering gear should be removed and saved for future use. Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal. - Push the new O-ring seal onto the tool.
- Locate the tool on the union and push on the new O-ring seal.

Install the components in reverse order. | | |
