Removal

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Prevent the piston rod from moving using a hexagon key.
    Undo the right-hand suspension strut nut five turns.

  1. Undo the right-hand front wheel nuts.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Detach the engine undershield.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not damage the boots and the ABS sensor ring.
    Detach the stabiliser link rod from the suspension lower arm ball joint.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The inner joint must not be bent more than 18 degrees, the outer one no more than 45 degrees.
    Remove the right-hand front axle driveshaft/intermediate shaft.
    • Pull the front axle driveshaft from the transmission and tie up.

  1. Remove the front axle driveshaft oil seal.

Installation

  1. General note.
    • Renew the self-locking nuts and snap-rings.

  1. Install the front axle driveshaft oil seal.
    • Push home as far as it will go.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not damage the radial oil seal.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The inner joint must not be bent more than 18 degrees, the outer one no more than 45 degrees.
    Install the front axle driveshaft/intermediate shaft.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The inner joint must not be bent more than 18 degrees, the outer one no more than 45 degrees.
    Attach the intermediate shaft bearing.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not damage the boots and the ABS sensor ring.
    Attach the stabiliser link rod and the suspension lower arm ball joint.
  1. Attach the right-hand front wheel.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The fill level is 0-5 mm below the bottom edge of the checking hole.
    Check the transmission fluid level and top up with transmission fluid if necessary.
  1. Attach the right-hand front wheel.

  1. Attach the engine undershield (if fitted).
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Tighten the right-hand front wheel nuts.

  1. Tighten the left-hand suspension strut nut (right-hand side shown).
    • Counterhold using an Allen key.
    • Tighten until finger-tight using a ring spanner.
    • Tighten to specified torque using a torque wrench.
