Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve for 20L Duratorq-TDCi Diesel Engines

Removal and Installation

Removal
  1. Remove the engine cover.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the orientation of the charge air cooler clamp to aid installation.
    Detach the charge air cooler outlet pipe from the EGR valve.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the orientation of the EGR valve to aid installation.
    Detach the EGR cooler to EGR valve tube from the EGR valve.
    • Remove the EGR cooler to EGR valve tube retaining nuts

  1. Disconnect the EGR valve electrical connectors.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum line from the EGR valve.

  1. Remove the EGR valve.

  1. Remove the EGR valve tube studs.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new EGR cooler to EGR valve tube gasket.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the EGR valve is installed to the noted removal position.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the charge air cooler clamp is installed to the same orientation as when removed.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
