Camshaft: Testing and Inspection
Journal
CAUTION If the camshaft is not inspected or assembled within 2-4 hours, of cleaning, coat with engine oil to prevent rust.
1. Remove light scuffs, scores, or nicks from the camshaft machined surfaces with a smooth oil stone.
2. Measure the camshaft journal diameters and record.
3. If any journal is not 26.962-26.936 mm (1.061494-1.060470 inch) replace camshaft.
4. The camshaft and cylinder head must be replaced if camshaft journals are excessively worn or scored.
