Brake Light Switch: Description and Operation
The stoplight switch:

Provides power to the stoplamps.

Provides a signal to various other components including:

Anti-lock brake control module.

Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

Shift lock actuator.

Speed control servo.

Is provided power through Circuit 10 (LG/R).
^
Is protected by fuse junction panel Fuse 9 (15 A), which is hot at all times.

When closed (brake pedal applied) provides power to the stoplamps and rear hi-mount lamp through Circuit 810 (R/LG).
^
Is provided ground (at the stoplamps) through Circuit 57 (BK).
