System Operation
Anti-Theft System Operation
The anti-theft alarm system provides vehicle protection as follows:
^
The system is controlled by an anti-theft alarm control.
^
It provides the vehicle with protection from unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment and luggage compartment.
^
When armed, unauthorized entry into the passenger compartment is detected by lamp switches (located in the passenger compartment front doors).
^
The luggage compartment is protected by a door lock cylinder switch, located on the luggage compartment door lock cylinder.
Once triggered, the system responds as follows:
^
flashes the low beam headlamps, the parking lamps, rear lamps and the alarm indicator
^
sounds the horn
^
disables the starter circuit until the system is disarmed
Components
The system is composed of the following components:
^
anti-theft alarm control
^
theft indicator (located in instrument cluster)
^
RH door lock cylinder switch, and LH door lock cylinder switch
^
luggage compartment door lock cylinder switch
^
relay mounting panel assembly
The following components already exist in the vehicle and are used in the anti-theft alarm system:
^
door lock switch
^
lamp switch
^
horn relay and bracket and horns
^
low beam headlamps
^
rear lamps and parking lamps
^
starter relay
^
remote/keyless entry module
System Arming and Disarming
The alarm system operating sequences are designed to be passive; therefore, the system can be armed or disarmed when following normal vehicle
entrance and exit procedures. The following is a detailed description of the system operation:
System Arming
The system will be armed when one of the following input sequences is followed:
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Open a front door. Alarm indicator lamp flashes.
3. Lock the front doors with power door lock switches. Alarm indicator lamp on steady.
4. Close both front doors.
5. Wait approximately 30 seconds for alarm indicator lamp to go out. This indicates system is armed.
The system can be armed by the keyless entry remote transmitter by following this input sequence:
6. Turn ignition switch OFF.
7. Close both front doors. Alarm indicator lamp is off.
8. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter.
9. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the alarm indicator lamp to turn off. This indicates the system is armed.
Disarming an Untriggered System
NOTE: Any of the following will disarm an untriggered system.

Unlock driver or passenger front doors with the key.
^
Unlock driver front doors by pressing UNLOCK button of keyless entry remote transmitter.
^
If remaining in the vehicle, turn ignition switch to RUN or ACC.
System Triggering
NOTE: Within three minutes after the system has been triggered, the horns and exterior lamps will shut off automatically. The system will then reset
