ISSUE:
There is a conical filter installed in the forward clutch circuit of the transaxle case on some CD4E transaxles in 2.0L Probe and 2.0L/2.5L Contour or
Mystique (Figure 1 and 2). This filter will not be needed or released for service.
ACTION:
If transaxle service is required and forward clutch circuit filter is present, it should be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled. For a filter that is damaged or
severely contaminated, discard the filter and reassemble the transaxle without the filter in the forward clutch circuit.
