Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) Sensor

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

NOTE:  When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control
module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.

2. Raise and support the vehicle.

3. Remove the LH front fender splash shield.

4. Position a drain pan under the main control cover.

5. Loosen the main control cover bolts.

6. Allow any transaxle fluid to drain from the main control cover.

7. Remove the main control cover bolts and cover. Discard the main control cover gasket.

8. Disconnect the Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) sensor electrical connector.

9. Use Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor Remover / Replacer T92C-77000-AH to remove the TOT sensor from the main control valve body.

INSTALLATION

1. Use Transmission Oil Temperature Sensor Remover / Replacer T92C-77000-AH to install the TOT sensor on the main control valve body.

2. Tighten the TOT sensor to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).

3. Connect the transmission oil temperature sensor electrical connector.

4. Install a new main control cover gasket on the main control cover.

5. Install the main control cover. Tighten the main control cover bolts to 8-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).

6. Install the LH front fender splash shield. Tighten the LH front fender splash shield screws to  8-10 Nm (71-88 lb in).

7. Lower the vehicle.

8. Connect the battery ground cable.

9. Fill the transaxle with specified Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF).
