Axle Bearing: Service and Repair
Installation
1. Use a suitable seal installer to install a new outboard driveshaft inner dust seal in the front axle bearing bracket.
2. Use an arbor press to install a new front axle bearing in the front axle bearing bracket.
3. Use an arbor press to install a new inboard driveshaft inner dust seal.
4. Use an arbor press to install the halfshaft into the front axle bearing bracket.
5. Install a new driveshaft bearing retainer circlip on the outboard end of the halfshaft.
CAUTION: The original driveshaft bearing retainer circlip must not be reused.
NOTE: To prevent overexpanding, install the new driveshaft bearing retainer circlip by starting one end of the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip
in the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip groove and working the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip over the end of the halfshaft.
6. Ensure that the driveshaft bearing retainer circlip gap is positioned at the top and lubricate the halfshaft splines with the same lubricant the
