8. If necessary, remove the small front wheel driveshaft joint boot clamp and the front wheel driveshaft joint boot from the front wheel driveshaft and
joint.
NOTE: If the front wheel driveshaft joint boot is to be reused, wrap the front wheel driveshaft and joint splines with tape before removing the
front wheel driveshaft joint boot from the front wheel driveshaft and joint.
Assembly
1. If necessary, cover the front wheel driveshaft and joint splines with tape and install the front wheel driveshaft joint boot.
2. Align the matching marks applied during disassembly and install the tripot bearing on the front wheel driveshaft and joint. Tap the tripot bearing
onto the front wheel driveshaft and joint with a hammer and brass drift.
3. Install the snap ring.
4. Fill the front wheel driveshaft joint outer race with 100g (3.5 oz.) of Ford High Temp Constant Velocity Joint Grease E43Z-19590-A or equivalent
meeting Ford specification ESP-M1C207-A.
5. Install the outer race over the tripot bearing and install the wire ring bearing retainer.
6. Position the front wheel driveshaft joint boot.
NOTE: The shapes of the front wheel driveshaft joint boots are different. Be careful to install them correctly.
