Drum Brake - Brake Drum Puma 1998 (06/1997-12/2001)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the parking brake control cover trim.

  1. Lower the parking brake control lever and loosen the adjustment nut.
  1. Loosen the wheel nuts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the wheel.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If the grease cap is damaged during removal install a new cap.
    Remove the grease cap.

  1. Loosen the drum retaining nut.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:When removing the drum make sure the wheel bearing is not displaced from its housing.
    Remove the drum.
    1. Remove and discard the nut.
    1. Remove the drum.
    • Ensure the wheel bearing is not displaced from its housing.

Installation

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Once tightened, the hub retaining nut must not be disturbed. If the torque setting requires to be checked the nut must be loosened two full turns and re-tightened.
NOTE:
NOTE:Rotate the hub while tightening the hub retaining nut.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Adjust the parking brake cable.
