Removal and Installation

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Wait at least two minutes after disconnecting the battery before proceeding or there may the possibility of accidently deploying the air bag(s) and pyrotechnic safety belt pre-tensioners.
  1. Remove the multi-function switch. For additional information, refer to Section  211-05 Steering Column Switches.

  1. Center the steering wheel and lock in position.

  1. Remove the PATS transceiver.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Remove the retaining screw.

  1. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the air bag sliding contact electrical connector.

  1. Detach the wiring harness electrical connectors from the steering column bracket.

  1. Disconnect the hood latch remote control cable.

  1. From inside the passenger compartment, disconnect the flexible coupling.
    1. Remove the pinch bolt.
    1. Remove the retaining cage.
    1. Remove the shaft aligner.

  1. Remove the steering column.
    • Remove the two retaining nuts.

Installation
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the steering is in the straight ahead position.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
