Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Unscrew and remove the gear lever knob.

  1. Remove the outer boot and frame from the gear lever.

  1. Pull out the inner boot of the gear lever.
  1. Raise the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Detach the heat shields.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Washer.
    Detach the gearshift mechanism shift rod and stabiliser.

    1. Washer

  1. Detach the gearshift mounting.
    • Detach the gearshift mechanism.

Installation

  1. Fit the gearshift mounting.
    • Position the gearshift mechanism.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:If the gearshift stabiliser cannot be fitted free from stress, loosen the engine/transmission mounting and align the engine/transmission so that the gearshift stabiliser can be fitted free from stress. Do not tighten the shift rod clamp.
    Fit the stabiliser and shift rod.

  1. Tighten the engine/transmission mounting. For additional information, refer to Section  303-01A Engine / 303-01B Engine.For additional information, refer to Section  303-01A Engine / 303-01B Engine.

  1. Adjust the gearshift mechanism.
    • Engage fourth gear (starting with the selector shaft in neutral position, push the shaft in until it reaches the stop).
    • Lock the gear lever in fourth gear position using the shaft of a twist drill (9 mm diameter).

  1. Tighten the shift rod clamp
    • Pull the twist drill out of the gearshift mechanism housing.

  1. Fit the heat shields.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Fit the inner boot of the gear lever.

  1. Clip the outer boot and frame in place.
  1. Screw on the gear lever knob.
