Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover, Power Steering Pump Pulley

211-016 (13-022)

Expander, Teflon Seal

211-188 (13-015)

Installer, Camshaft Pulley

303-458 (21-192)

Remover, Transmision Fluid Cooler

Removal

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.

  1. Using the special tool, remove the power steering pump pulley.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Protect the generator with lint free cloth to prevent contamination.
    Disconnect the power steering line from the power steering pump.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the air deflector.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the power steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return hose.
    1. Insert the tool into the spring lock coupling.
    1. Slide the special tool along the line to release the locking tangs.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Disconnect the power steering pump to steering gear line and the power steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return hose.
    • Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable container.

  1. Remove the power steering fluid cooler.

Installation

  1. Using the special tool, install a new O-ring seal onto the power steering pump to steering gear line union.
    1. Push the O-ring seal onto the special tool.
    1. Locate the special tool onto the union and install the O-ring seal.

  1. Install the power steering fluid cooler.

  1. Connect the power steering pump to steering gear line and the power steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return hose.

  1. Connect the power steering gear to power steering fluid reservoir return hose.

  1. Install the air deflector.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Connect the power steering line to the power steering pump.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the pulley is flush with the end of the pump shaft.
    Using the special tool, install the power steering pump pulley.
  1. Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.
  1. Fill and bleed the power steering system. For additional information, refer to Section  211-00 Steering System - General Information.
